What is the VPC?
The Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) is a foundation-level qualification for secondary school students. It is for young people aged 15 and above, including those in Years 10, 11, or 12, who may not be ready for the VCE (Victorian Certificate of Education).
The VPC helps students build important skills to prepare them for future study, training, or work.
At Melton FLO the VPC program is designed to be completed in 12 months. However, students can also finish their certificate in other flexible programs if needed. The VPC is flexible and can be adjusted to meet each student’s individual needs.
Purpose of the VPC
The purpose of the VPC is to:
- Equip students with the skills, knowledge, values, and capabilities to be active and informed citizens, lifelong learners, and confident and creative individuals.
- Empower students to make informed decisions about the following stages of their lives through authentic workplace experiences, providing them with the best opportunity to achieve their personal goals and aspirations in a rapidly changing world.
Structure of the VPC
The VPC has four studies; these are:
- Literacy
- Numeracy
- Work-Related Skills
- Personal Development Skills
Each study has two or four units to be completed.
