FLIP (Flexible Learning Intervention Pathways) Melton FLO (Flexible Learning Options) program is a blended online educational offering intended for young people in Year 7 to 10 who have been disengaged from mainstream schooling and not in regular attendance at school for some time.
FLIP delivers a program that is personalised and aligned with the year 7 -10 Victorian Curriculum and supported by a therapeutic approach based on the Berry Street Education Model, utilising the School-wide Behaviour Support (SWBPS) framework.
FLIP students are provided a Chromebook (laptop), an online timetable with daily literacy, numeracy and general study tasks, and an allocated teacher. Students are offered various face to face offerings throughout the course of each week including “Drop in” sessions at the Melton Library and Melton FLO CaLM campus to nurture students’ social and emotional development.
The FLIP program has a Student Wellbeing Engagement policy and a Melton FLO Behavioural Plan overseen by FLO staff to assist in reconnecting students to learning which seeks to:
- Develop organisational skills, basic literacy and numeracy, interpersonal and financial skills;
- Improve social and team skills;
- Create a positive future and develop personal confidence and esteem;
- Develop pathways into mainstream education, employment and/or training;
- Connect to and develop partnerships with police, community, welfare, health, local government, and other educational providers.
